10 Fun Fall Date Ideas

superheroyou 10 fun fall date ideas

As the weather gets colder, it can be tempting to spend all your date nights curled up in bed. But it’s still cool – not freezing – so take advantage of the weather and get out while you can! Here are 10 date ideas for a little fall fun.

1. Enjoy Oktoberfest.

See if there’s an Oktoberfest celebration in your neighborhood, or just sample some autumnal beers – you can taste test some at home, head out to a few bars, or find a local brewery. Not into beer? Try a hard cider tasting or a wine tasting, since it’s harvest time for vineyards in the northern hemisphere. You could also gather up some drink recipes and ingredients and have a autumn-themed cocktail competition. Whoever makes the best drink wins.

2. Volunteer together.

November 13 is World Kindess Day – but giving back is appreciated any day of the year. Pick a place you can volunteer together to support a cause that’s dear to both of you. Stuck? Try a soup kitchen, an animal shelter, or call up your local church to see if they have ideas.

3. Get haunted.

Why not let the Halloween spirit come alive during your next date? Head to a haunted house or go on a ghost tour in your town. You could also try a “ghost hunt,” when you head to a building that’s supposedly haunted with flashlights to see if you can find some creepy specters.

4. Go to a farm.

Even if you live in a city, you probably have a local farm a couple hours away. So pick a day to go pumpkin or apple picking and enjoy some scrumptious treats! If you can find one that has a corn maze or hay ride, you’re setting yourself up for a day of fun. For best results, do a  little research beforehand to make sure adults can enjoy the attractions too. Or see if you can go when the farm is hosting a festival or fair, and thus will have lots of other treats around too.

5. Bake fall treats.

In the summer, we avoided turning on the oven as much as possible – but fall is the perfect time to cozy up with some delicious baked goods. Why not turn all those apples you picked into some scrumptious apple pie? If you can’t make it to a farm, comb through your farmer’s market and see what fun meals you can cook up together.

6. Enjoy the foliage.

Nothing says fall or romance like when the leaves change color. Enjoy the foliage by taking a drive or hike through a scenic route. You could also have an outdoor picnic if it’s not too cold. Fill up a thermos with hot chocolate and bring a blanket you two can cuddle under.

7. Get crafty.

Most of us like to decorate our homes for the winter holidays – but our homes are often decoration-free during the fall. Change that by getting crafty with your partner! If it’s pre-Halloween, get a couple pumpkins and carve jack-o-lanterns together. You can see who can come up with the most creative design, or follow a pattern you find online.

8. Get active.

We love active dates – and there’s still plenty you can try when the weather gets cold! Try horseback riding or go rock climbing indoors if you want to stay a little warmer.

9. Watch a football game.

Fall is prime football season, so why not get tickets to an outdoor game? Relive your college days by tailgating it beforehand. Not a fan of pigskin? Soccer is in season now, too.

10. Have a movie marathon.

OK, so you want to get out of the Netflix rut…but a themed movie night is cozy, fun AND new. A scary movie marathon is perfect for Halloween, or you can just pick one of the several shows returning this fall and pick one you’d like to watch from the beginning. Or try these classic fall movies!
