Superhero Secrets: Shawn Stevenson, ‘Model Health Show’ Host

Want to be healthy? You need to know today’s real-life superhero, Shawn Stevenson. Shawn is the host of the Model Health Show, featured as the #1 Nutrition/Fitness podcast on iTunes. A clinical nutritionist, Shawn has dedicated his life to helping people understand their bodies so they become as healthy as possible.

Shawn believes there are 3 components to good health: the right nutrition, exercise and sleep. However, sleep is often neglected by most. That’s why he wrote the bestseller Sleep Smarter.

“I just saw a study earlier today that..at least 60% of Americans have sleep problems either every night or every other night,” Shawn says in the video above.

So why is nobody talking about it? Shawn believes it’s because sleep is intrinsically passive, instead of active. It’s hard to wrap our brains around doing nothing to become healthier, but that doesn’t diminish its importance.

In fact, one study put two groups on the same exact diet and fitness routine – but Group A slept 8+ hours a night, while Group B slept less than 6. By the study’s end, Group B had lost far less body fat and weight than Group A.

So what are the health benefits of sleep? What quality of sleep do far too many people focus on – and what should you be paying attention to instead? Watch the video above to find out!
